I made a post about mounting the MaxTrax recovery boards before, and recently I just started playing around with different ways on how to mount them. Thought I should share my discovery with you guys haha:
I mounted them laterally across the vehicle on the cargo bar closest to the rear window. This will keep them more in the "shadow" of the roofline.
Thoughts?
To be honest, because the mounting bolts are all inline across the cargo bar, there is a bit of torsional wiggle/twist allowed with this setup. I'd be concerned that over a long haul, what would be the results from vibration/stress. Also if someone tried to steal them, it gives them a lot more "twist" to play with (and fail), again stressing things.
Not an optimal setup, but could improve the aerodynamics.
I for one am NOT going to use them this way unless I were out of space in the gear tunnel or in the bed.
Please post your thoughts and comments below.
