A friend got a call from Rivian service and they said there is a fix for the front wheel knocking many owners experience at low speeds. They will be adding it to his ticket for late January. I’ll update once his truck gets back.
My friends R1T has a noise that's rather annoying in the driver side front. His daughter drove it the other day and said "what's all that racket?". A previous work order said the noise was normal and I think I have heard it in several other trucks. There is a bit of pay in the half shaft on the driver side both in/out and up/down that is not present on the passenger side.
His wife's 2023 R1S would make clunking noises over certain bumps but the R1T does it pretty much all the time and it does seem to have gotten worse recently after the suspension software update in 2024.19. Surprisingly, they've never been off road other than gravel/dirt roads.
If it was suspension though it would be there when you hit speed bumps and it's not. It was only noticed when over uneven road surfaces that causes quick oscillating in the suspension.
I have a feeling that it is normal after the parts wear in for there to be some noise but that doesn't make it any less annoying. My instincts keep telling me it could be the half shafts.
