Testing My Rivian’s Battery at 35K Miles: Here’s What I Found

Last weekend, I hit 40,000 miles on my Rivian and decided to test how much battery capacity it still has. I drained the battery to 0%, with just 1 mile of range left, then charged it all the way to 100%. I was shocked to see it only lost about 1 kWh since it was new. At 20,000 miles, the vehicle data showed 130 kWh of capacity. Now, it’s at 127.72 kWh. I won't lie, I was expecting a bigger drop at this mileage, but these results are way better than I hoped. Honestly, it’s impressive how well the battery’s holding up after all those miles. I did the test myself, and it was pretty easy to pull off. Starting with an almost dead battery and charging it fully gave me a solid read on its health. I’m a bit excited and surprised that it only lost a tiny bit of capacity after 40,000 miles. I was worried I’d see a bigger decline, but this makes me feel good about the Rivian’s battery lasting for the long haul. I’ve been hunting for a solid cargo liner for my R1S after a few duds that didn’t quite cut it. A friend pointed me to Canvasback, and their liner is a total game-changer. I put it in yesterday when the weather finally warmed up, and it fits like a glove. Looks sharp, too. Now I’m all set to haul my dog around without worrying about messes in the back.
