- R1S Rivian Blue
Been thinking about a new hitch for my R1S and I recently considered getting Go Rhino universal hitch before a group member told me about his experience with the Go Rhino hitch and that it wouldn't fit well for my R1S. He said had one of these on his old Chevy truck. Actually, two of them.
The first one got mangled when he was rear ended by someone in an F150 who was texting & driving and hit him at a stop light. But it absorbed all the damage and protected his vehicle. Given he had all seen the threads about the "41K repair estimate" from being rear-ended, he desperately wanted to improve his vehicle protection from the rear so he ordered one of these.
Overall, he said he was disappointed with the fit on the Rivian and after speaking with customer service, he ended up returning the product. They say it's a "universal" product, but does not fit well with the Rivian's recessed hitch. Neither the shaft nor the "anti-rattle clip" could barely reach the hitch in its recessed location, it rattled like crazy, and the ends (that angle in slightly) were dangerously close to scratching / banging into the back bumper & reverse lights, even when installed in the very last hole. I suspect any vehicle with a recessed hitch would have the same problem.
So he returned them but still keeping his eye out for comparable products. If they made something like this just about 4" longer hitch receiver shaft, I think it would fit really well. The pictures shared on this article, are photos he took when he had the Go Rhino hitch installed.
