So there's this really cool portable awning called Moon Shade from a small company called Moonfab. I was helping a friend to attempt to install this huge 270° awning off his Xtrusion Overland rack and it just didn't happen...But Ro (his neighbor)...she had shade...and shade for a fraction of the price. Shade that also didn't shed range due to the drag of hanging off our rack.
So 2 weeks ago, he bought one and I gotta say that the awning looked really great. So thank you, Ro Vee for setting up that awning and showing it off without realizing you were showing it off. At 7' x 9' it is perfect for setting up behind the truck for cooking and eating meals under.
It is simply attached via Velcro to some rings on the Xtrusion Overland rack. If you wanted to install if off the side of the cab, you could also attach it via Velcro to the holes in the side of the Rivian crossbars. Ro had hers installed off the passenger-side of the cab in a similar fashion if I recall. I think I'm going to do the same if I happen to get a Moon Shade.
I didn't take any pics of Ro's setup but hopefully Ro did and when next I'm over there, I'd ask her to share them with me. If you needed to move or take it down, it was an easy process of just removing the Velcro, and a few minutes later, it's packed up to about the size of a yoga mat.
