This is more like an advice for those who're yet to get their PPF done. Three days after getting my first ever Xpel PPF installed, a rock tore through the film easily all the way through the paint.
That is why I highly recommend you ask specifically for the thickest PPF available (called Ultimate 10 if you choose Xpel) and pay the extra. I was focused on window tinting, wrapped edges, etc and completely forgot to ask about thickness. Don’t make my mistake.
Fortunately for me, the film started a self-healing process which was nice. It offered nice protection against light branch scratches off-road, but again, be sure to ask for the thickest film.
