Checking your vehicle for any issues is the first and most important safety practice. A story was shared about how a Rivian owner was hearing some rattling from the drivers side over the last week or so. At first, it seemed to be coming from the suspension or maybe underneath the car. He looked under his truck and there was at least one bolt missing, maybe more. Looked at passenger side and the bolt was intact. He recently had his subframe replaced. Could they have forgotten to replace it? How else may it have fallen off?
I'm sure these are the type of questions that must have been going through his head. Simple routine checks could help you detect things line this early and look for a possible solution on time. To check for issues like this, you have to raise the vehicle up to max. Crawl under with a flashlight. Check all the underbody trim bolts. If loose, remove, clean, apply blue loctite and replace. (You can look up standard torque settings for that screw size and apply.) Then mark with paint pen. This is just a standard DIY maintainance procedure I think all drivers should be able to carry out.
If I were to be in his shoes, I'd remove the one next to it to use as a reference. Then go to a store like autozone and get a replacement in the area where they have trim screws. Find something that will work to secure and then mention them for my next service if I can't find the exact screws. Making an appointment just for those screws will be more frustrating than anything. There was a time we were missing multiple trim screws after our suspension was serviced and then a few more screws after our R1S came back from the certified bodyshop. Seems like they forgot or they are lost when putting things back together.
