After my friend’s dog got out of his locked Rivian last week, I decided to check why it happened. I was surprised to discover that the driver’s door window buttons can roll down any window, even with the Window Lock on, which only stops the three passenger window switches from working. Pet Comfort Mode doesn’t block this either. If a pet steps on those driver’s controls, it can open a window and escape. Finding out a locked car isn’t fully pet-proof was a real surprise.

I have since reached out to Rivian, asking for a fix to lock the driver’s window controls when Pet Comfort Mode is on. It’s worrying that a pet can accidentally open a window in a locked vehicle. I’m hoping they’ll add a software update to keep all windows secure. I’d love to know if anyone has found a way to prevent such incident or probably dealt with something similar.
