Rivian's 2025.06 Update Fixes Gen 2 Key Fob Pairing

I have previously used the streaming capability back when it first came out as well as the hotspot since before Connect+ was a thing. I am trying to get the streaming working again but it seems to have been hidden fully behind the paywall. (Not looking to argue the merits of that system here) I recall after Connect+ came out being able to still use the Hotspot while tethering with my phone, and losing it isn't a big deal other than needing to update my wife's wifi, but I think I remember needing to be on the Hotspot to do casting. My question is, did Rivian remove both of these features to fully behind the connect+ paywall? I thought that if you used phone tethering or if you were connected to WIFI you could use most all of the usual streaming like features of the Rivian? If anyone can recommend how to stream while using tethering I'm sure myself and others without Connect+ would appreciate it.

TLDR: For a while now, I couldn't get my Gen 2 key fob to pair no matter what. After updating to 2025.06, it just worked.

I submitted a ticket, and support insisted I needed mobile service. They finally came last week (bad timing), but after trying, they had no clue and left. Later, they followed up and told me I'd need to visit a service center, where they could supposedly fix it quickly.

Since it always felt like a software issue, I decided to wait for the next update before making the trip. After checking for updates every five minutes, I finally got the 2025.06 update and boom, the key fob paired instantly.

The only relevant fix in the release notes I could find was:

• Fixed an issue that prevented phones from being set up as a key.

So, if you’ve been struggling with pairing, give it another shot after updating.
