Solved: Connecting Rivian to HomeLink with Security+ 2.0 Liftmaster / Chamberlain Opener

I have previously used the streaming capability back when it first came out as well as the hotspot since before Connect+ was a thing. I am trying to get the streaming working again but it seems to have been hidden fully behind the paywall. (Not looking to argue the merits of that system here) I recall after Connect+ came out being able to still use the Hotspot while tethering with my phone, and losing it isn't a big deal other than needing to update my wife's wifi, but I think I remember needing to be on the Hotspot to do casting. My question is, did Rivian remove both of these features to fully behind the connect+ paywall? I thought that if you used phone tethering or if you were connected to WIFI you could use most all of the usual streaming like features of the Rivian? If anyone can recommend how to stream while using tethering I'm sure myself and others without Connect+ would appreciate it.

Over the weekend, I was finally able to solve the connectivity issue I was having, for the Rivian R1S to get setup with Homelink for Chamberlain / Liftmaster. The issue as far as I can tell boils down to whether or not your garage door opener utilizes Security+ 2.0 but it may be more nuanced than that even with the specific version of your opener. For me the solution was to get the Homelink Compatibility bridge.

Once I set that up it worked right away. Process was pretty straightforward.

• Start the rivian door setup. Instead of using your normal remote use the Homelink compatibility remote.

• Plug the compatibility unit into an outlet near the opener.

• Press the learn button on the garage door opener

• Run back to your car and go through the three signal sends in 30 seconds.

That was it. Hopefully if you are stuck and told by rivian your opener is not compatible this will work for you as well. Good luck.
