I don't know if anyone has noticed the arbitrary limits imposed on the driver's display. A few of the hard limits I've noticed. Other vehicles are only shown if they are facing the same direction as you (or at least close).

Parked vehicles on the side of the road are only shown if your speed is exactly 30 MPH or less
On the highway only vehicles in the lane directly to the left and directly to the right are shown.

I know not the system can see far more than what is shown on the screen. For example on rare occasions it will briefly show cars that are very far away, until it realizes that they are more than one lane over, and as soon as it realizes that they disappear.

My guess would be something related to "we're not happy with what we're seeing outside of that range, so we'll hide it". I hope that sooner than later they unlock more. At the very least, oncoming traffic would be nice. I'd love to know what it's able to see in that regard.

As a side note - in my recent time in a Gen 1, I noticed that it gets confused about a vehicles orientation far more often than Gen 2, so it will quite often show oncoming cars, thinking they are facing the same direction as you. But then it realizes it's facing the other way and it disappears which results in a lot of flickering.
