Sort of a Charging post, but more about battery conditioning and prep. I knew the basics but needed to see the facts, and Wednesdays situation lined up perfectly to do a test.
I was scheduled to drop my R1T off at the SC on Thursdaymorning. So on Wednesday night I didn’t really need to charge my vehicle which was sitting at 64-65% SOC.
In the morning when I woke up it was about 31F outside and about 35F inside the truck cabin. I got the idea: let’s see if charging and heating the cabin 30 minutes before leaving will result in any improvement in efficiency based on battery conditioning.
This is the result after 22 minutes of charging at 11kW.st of the power went into heating the cab and warming the battery. I don’t have a breakdown of that. Next time I’ll not heat the cabin just to get a better idea.
When I started my drive I still had a cold battery warning regarding regen but it disappeared after only 1-2 minutes of driving.
