Has anyone had this happen to them? So a friend of mine went to swipe the charge port door closed after charging and it seems like some internal hardware broke and now the door won’t close completely. It sits about 2 inches from the body of the car when “closed” and he now has to manually flip it up to open it. Sadly, he can’t get an appointment until a month from now.

Is the port safe if consistently exposed to the elements?

Note: It's his primary car
