Fitting Sidio Crates in the R1S Frunk – My Quick Test

I can't really tell if it was the latest update that caused this issue with my Rivian R1S. A few days after I updated my Rivian software to the latest version, my R1S locked and unlocked every time I passed by the garage, which was kind of strange at first. I looked for the proximity lock setting for my home address, but it was missing from the menu. It was like the truck doesn’t recognize my house anymore. The constant noise from the locks was disruptive when my husband was working in the garage, and I was concerned I’d need to contact service before we eventually found a solution that worked. So, we removed our home address from the navigation system, re-entered it, and performed a soft reset. Then, I toggled the proximity lock setting off and back on. Within seconds, the full menu reappeared, including the home lock option. It’s been functioning normally since then, with no random locking. If anyone’s R1S is having this issue, try these steps. I’ve been thinking about grabbing some full-size Sidio crates for organizing gear in my R1S frunk, so I did a quick test to see how they fit. The frunk’s curved shape had me a bit worried they might not sit right, but here’s what I found.

Two full-size Sidio crates with lids fit perfectly when placed lengthwise (long side front to back). They slide in easily and feel secure. But if you try placing them widthwise (short side front to back), the frunk lid won’t close. They’re just a tad too tall to clear the lid’s inner edge.

If you go for the half-size Sidio crates, you can fit two widthwise with no problem, and the lid closes fine. I’m leaning toward getting these crates for camping and outdoor trips since they’d keep everything tidy. Hope this helps anyone else planning their frunk setup.
