- 2025 Rivian R1S Limestone/Ocean Mist
First Mobile Service Appointment for my R1S
Issue: There was a loud humming when running heat or AC. It literally sounded like a plane taking off on the runway. The only thing I could do to somewhat resolve it was to power it off then back on again. Sometimes it worked but a lot of times it didn't.
Details: I poked around the Forums to see if anyone else had the issue and it had been mentioned. People attributed the issue to it being the compressor and some never found the source. It also was observed on the R1T as well as the R1S. But as usual, not a lot of content out there on the Rivian so it's a learning experience for all.
Timing: I booked my first mobile service appointment via a phone call to Rivian customer service. They happened to have approx a 1 month wait time for my area (Sacramento, CA).

Logistics/Details:
- They set you up in the app so in your messages you can see your appointment details.
- You also receive an invoice with an estimate of what they think the visit will cost. Because we are still under warranty this one was zero! Woo hoo!
- They ask you to sign/accept before they come - it's all digital signature so it's super easy.
- As a side note, they list the address that the vehicle was purchased at as the service address. I did call it out when they sent me the confirmation email and gave them my home address. However the service representative did still show up to the office. Luckily in our case we live 7 min from the office, but if your purchase address and service address is far apart this obviously could be an issue and you possibly could miss an appointment. The representative was super nice and he came right over.
- The representative said that he has heard of this BUT he wasn't sure if it was a known issue or operating "as expected" OR if it was something Rivian would be repairing (video attached)
- After the appointment they promply called me and shared that it was a known issue and the resolution was the relocation of some hoses that may have been rattling near the firewall. They stated they would be calling me back to schedule a service appointment. We also called out some body issues when we took delivery of the car and they said they would address this during my next appointment as well.
- To me it sounds much rougher than pipes rattling, but we will see....stay tuned!
