My R1S Volume Struggles: Is my Audio System on the Fritz?

Hey guys, I'm sure everyone has been loving the auto front camera on R1 vehicles given it's perfect for squeezing into those preschool pickup lines or just enjoying a good drive. But here’s a slight feature I haven’t been too cool with for a while. When pulling into the car wash, I'd need to shift to neutral, and that camera’s still front and center, making me navigate menus to hit car wash mode. Not a crisis (I’ve handled worse with a toddler meltdown), but it’d be nice if it flowed a bit easier. Sure, the stalk’s there—reliable, like my old minivan—but that car wash button feels like it was made for busy moms like me. How great would it be if the camera just paused when car wash mode kicks in? Straight to neutral, no extra steps—like the car’s saying, “Relax, I’ve got this.” Would be a total win. Anyone else juggling this? Maybe Rivian could tweak it for us multitaskers.

I’ve been messing with the audio in my Rivian R1S lately, and it’s honestly stressing me out. When I play Spotify, the volume goes from barely a peep to way too loud in, like, two seconds. Level 1 is so soft I can hardly catch the beat, and then 3 comes in blasting so hard I get worried my neighbors will complain. There’s no sweet spot, no gentle vibe to settle into. Just quiet, then whoosh, loud enough to rattle my earrings. I’ve chatted with a couple other Gen 1 owners who have an R1S or R1T, and they’ve noticed it to.

I don’t mess with Apple Music much, but a friend of mine said she had a similar headache when they rolled it out in a software update a while back. Sge told me 1 was so soft she could hardly hear it, 2 was okay if there’s noise around but overkill in silence, and 3 was straight-up too much.

Although, she told me a later update smoothed it out for her and now she keeps it between 7 and 10, says it’s just right. Plenty of room to dial it down when she’s having a calm day or turn it up when she’s rolling through chaos. She said this was months ago tho. I guess I’ll have to dig into the settings later, maybe see if i could get it sorted out. Anyone else out there dealing with this volume chaos, or am I just behind the curve?
