If you don't need RTT on the R1T bed for camping, you can get a Jumping Jack pop-up tent trailer. So your crossbars can be used for additional storage.
After a seemingly endless search for quality vs. size, vs utility, I came across a "rooftop" basket that seems right for my needs. Thought I would share and maybe save someone some time whilst searching for their ideal carrier.
BougeRV Aluminum Black Basket:
Mounted "backwards", I think it compliments the lines of the R1T nicely, no?
All the specs are in the Amazon ad. One thing that is very nice on this unit is that the mounting tabs adjust to the odd 32 13/16" (?) distance of the bed crossbars. The design of the mounting tabs allow infinite adjustment between the minimum and maximum range. Very few baskets I've studied can do this, so it was a huge "plus" for me. The distance between the roof mounted crossbars is 36.0". Go figure. But, this basket will adjust to both. The mounting bolts included were eschewed for a set of Eye nuts that have T-bolts that fit into the slots on the crossbars (20mm, FYI):
This will allow for some very tight straps without tweaking the basket. The pyramid shaped crossmounts are there because they were found before the Eye Bolts, but they do add a lot of stiffness to the whole contraption, so they stay, even though the Eye bolts are plenty to strap things down with. Can't have too many strapping points, a wise man once told me (but that's an entirely different story for another day ... ).
Oh - and the brand name sticker removes easily and completely.
