A few weeks ago, I was back home in Melbourne visiting family. We were staying at the Melby in downtown Melbourne. The hotel has a parking garage that makes up the first 5 or 6 floors with 6 Level 2 EVSEs (4 J1772s and 2 Tesla Destination). Both Destination chargers are parallel parking while the 4 J1772 EVSEs are pull or back in depending on your vehicle. They also happen to be precariously positioned between 2 HUGE concrete support beams used to hold up the parking garage and hotel.
Without getting into it, I had some stuff going on and mental clarity was not in my favor. I turned too soon and hit the concrete support beam with quite a bit of force. The force of me hitting it was enough so that I bounced off slightly before hitting it again and dragging the slider another 3.5-4”.
I didn’t get get any pics of the concrete support beam but as you can seee if you zoom in there are little bits of concrete stuck to the slider.
After I got home from Melbourne, I took some 80 grit sandpaper to knock off the concrete bits, smooth out the scratches, and remove some of the clumped up powder-coating. I followed that up with some 400 grit give it a better finish. Lastly, I prepped the area with butcher paper and did my best to feather in some matte black spray paint.
It’s still a little tacky in that photo hence the shine but it dried up quite a bit duller. Thanks again for the Megawatt Sliders and their functional kickout, Brenton. It looks great, is truly functional as it saved me from probably close to $20,000 worth of damage to the bedside otherwise. I love the sliders and can now say that have seen off-road and urban action.
