I've been curious to know if anyone had successfully removed the second row seats in their R1S. Until I stumbled upon someone who had his second row seats removed. It was super easy. With just a single socket wrench, the seats came out super easy. 2 cables with quick connects unplugged and they stuff back down under the carpet and the hardest part of the whole thing really was just lifting them out of the truck.
He has driven about 800 miles with them out already and no warnings, no errors, nothing. He has an outdoor rug in the back that kinda fits and is perfect for the dogs and goes over the bolts and bits. I imagine could easily find a proper carpet to cover things to look a bit better.
Having the R1S for over a year, he usually has the middle seat folded down sometimes, before taking them out, and it always felt a bit high and was hard for his dogs to jump into. With that middle row out it dramatically changes the feeling inside the vehicle, it feels almost like a cargo van or a minivan with so much room, and it's a dream for loading stuff in and out as he transports a lot of random stuff almost everyday.
I can't make such a change to my vehicle because of the kids and the fact that some days, the vehicle is usually filled up. So I do need all the room I can get for now. Probably in the future, when the kids are all grown and it's just me and the dogs, then I can go for a change like this, so give the dogs more room to roam about in the vehicle.
