Let me start off by saying I don’t often use ChargePoint, but I do have the app on my phone. I pulled into the ChargePoint and plugged in. It registered as charging but the Rivian showed it as stopped. I Went to pull the charger out but it wouldn’t release.
I went to the app and it said it was still charging so I pressed the stop charging button a few times and it would register as the charging had stopped, but once I hit the OK button, it still showed my vehicle charging.
I called the ChargePoint helpdesk listed on the charger and got a very helpful gentleman from India with a very thick accent that was a little bit difficult to understand, but after half an hour of him having me lock and unlock my doors three times quickly than five times by quickly nothing changed. He could not get the charger to register as stopped and it definitely wasn’t charging my vehicle. He attempted to reset the ChargePoint charger twice and reboot it, but the phone app still kept saying charging.
in the end, I used the emergency release cable to pull out which he was worried was gonna hurt his ChargePoint but after standing outside for half an hour I had lost my patience on that one. The Rivian knew it wasn’t charging so I wasn’t really worried about that. That actually worked and released the charger but my ChargePoint app still thinks it’s charging but there is no cost being added.
For all the complaints about EA I haven’t had an issue but this will ensure that unless ChargePoint is the only station available, I’ll stick to the devil I know.
