I carried out a little DIY experiment and I thought I should share it on the forum with fellow members. Below is the list of tools I used and also the steps that I followed too.
Tools:
1. Plastic wedge
2. 90* pick
3. Wire strippers
4. Pliers
5. Razor blade.
6. Electrical tape
7. Wire taps (red)
8. 12-18” wire. (Used for a chase)
9. Amazon radar hard wire kit.
10. Radar detector
Steps
1. Use your plastic wedge to pry down the light console in the headliner. Come in from the side, see photos. Once the four clips have released be careful with the harness, Rivian did not leave a lot of slack in the harness.
2. Unplug the passenger side dome light connection if you have a 90° or 140° pick it will help to depress the tab. While depressing the tab. Push the connector into the housing and then pull backwards. It should release with a little effort.
3. Now use your razor blade to cut back 2 to 3 inches of the foam harness tape.
4. The green outer wire will be your 12 V supply.
5. At the opposite end is the black outer wire that is your ground wire.
6. Use your wire taps to plug into the appropriate wires.
7. Now use your fishing wire or 12 inch wire and feed that through the front of the headliner into the pocket for the lamp assembly.
8. Tape the feed wire to the smallest end of your wiring harness and use that to pull the harness from the light socket to the front of the windshield.
9. Connect your harness to the tap and verify your radar detector lights up. NOTE: this connection will have 12v anytime you unlock the car and when in motion. When the car is locked and goes to sleep, the radar will turn off.
10. If it doesn’t then check ur wire tap. You may need use a razor blade to clear away the wire wrap on the wire itself to make a better connection. Put your wire taps about 1.5” away from the light connector end.
11. If your radar works, just reinstall the harness.
I hope this helps someone on the forum.
