This past Saturday, my friend used his Dual motor R1T to haul the band trailer for his daughter's high school to a competition about 140 miles away. The trailer weighed 7500lbs and is 24' long.
While the truck pulls the trailer GREAT, he complained that the range went down the toilet. Effectively, his range dropped to about 95 miles on a standard+ pack.
He started at 99% charge when they left the school. From his explanation, it seemed like some amount of SoC was either consumed in a drive or added in a charging session. After he got the trailer to the competition site, he had to unhook and hit an EA that was about 20 miles away to charge back up.
The Moral of his Story
For local towing, this truck is great. He already plans to keep on hauling the trailer for football games/events that are local.
For long distance, the very reduced range makes it impractical if you are hauling a trailer. Which means distance plays a major role when towing with your truck. So before embarking on any towing journey, make sure you have the distance calculated to avoid a huge drop in range so you can get the best performance from your truck.
