I've owned the R1S for a couple of years now, and some people have approached me asking me about my experience so far, and it's been awesome, so I always say that because it really has been an awesome experience for me. Yeah, there have been a few minor bugs here and there, but hey?! Every vehicle has its own fair share of problems, in my opinion. So here I just want to drop a couple of tips for new or anticipating Rivian owners—things to note and look out for.
1. Check for any obvious damage in the paint, bumpers, or lights.
2. Check for panel gaps and that none of the doors rub or are close to rubbing when opened. Mine rubbed when it was hot out.
3. Make sure the AC blows cold.
4. Open and close all the windows.
5. Check how the front trunk opens and closes; same with the rear.
6. Look for any flaws on the interior, like wrinkles in the covering of the A pillars.
7. If you have the underbody shield, make sure all the screws are there. This is a good chance to test the flashlight.
8. Check the roof for excess glue or adhesive.
9. Also ask them to make sure your wiper fluid is topped off. I used mine once and got the low fluid warning.
10. Ensure the rep walks you through all the software settings that are in the menu. Set up your phone (and your spouse, if applicable). Get your home location set up and how you want it to work with your phone key at home.
So these are just a few tips for new owners, and in case you feel like I missed some tips, you can do well to add them in the comment section below.
