Last week, a FL Rivian club member who was one of the early adopters, rocking a Launch Edition Quad Motor R1S – VIN 653, to be exact, upgraded her Gen 1 R1S to a Gen 2 R1S. I'm sure they had some amazing adventures together, that’s for sure! But, she decided it was time for a change. She just took delivery of her Gen2 Tri Max Ascend R1S and according to her, she said the only word that came out of her mouth was "WOW".
Her description of the feeling was like going from a trusty old hiking boot to a freakin’ spacesuit haha. Okay, maybe not quite that dramatic, but she was seriously impressed with the incremental improvements. Made her realize it was clear that Rivian hasn't been sitting still!
In her words, "parting ways with VIN 653 was a little bittersweet (so many memories!), but sliding into the driver's seat of this new beast was like coming home… to a much, MUCH nicer home".
I'm not going to go into a full breakdown of every single change she mentioned, but I'll just go over a few things she expressed her satisfaction about.
"The Quietness: Seriously, it's whisper-quiet inside. Like, I could actually hear my kids plotting world domination in the back (just kidding… mostly). One complain about the LE was it was hard to take calls in the truck , this one was a major upgrade in both cabin noise and BT calling".
"The Refinement: Everything just feels tighter, more polished. It's hard to describe, but it's definitely noticeable. The sound system is flat , but I'm not a sound junkie and plays NPR just fine".
"The Instant Power: The Tri-Motor is a rocket! It launches like a caffeinated cheetah. It feels even zippier than the Bosch Quads. It's truly amazing to see how far Rivian has come in such a short time. It makes me even more excited for the future of the brand and all the innovations they have in store".
"Big shoutout to the Rivian team for continuing to push the boundaries of what an electric adventure vehicle can be!"
She told me they have a planned Christmas trip from Chicago to Toronto already lined up. One she and the kids can't wait to embark on. I'm really glad she loved the upgrade and I can't wait to her about her adventure stories when next we see. Happy adventuring Susan!
Would be sharing a couple of photos she shared with us. Happy Holidays!
