One of the things from my old SUV that I wanted to replicate in my R1S was an in-cabin bike mount. I have always loved biking and I find that having the bike inside of my cabin saves it from getting dinged up by rocks on the road as well as protecting it from vandalism.

The biggest challenge I had was finding a way to support my Delta bike mount. I ended up going to Home Depot and purchasing a piece of 1.5" (14 GA) x 48" slotted (perforated) metal square (Home Depot SKU 802417). This cost me $28 and was the biggest part of my expense. I then purchased 2 5/16" x 1" (Home Depot SKU AFE) hex bolts, 2 5/16" hex nuts (Home Depot SKU ABC), 2 5/16" lock washers (Home Depot ABF), and 2 5/16" washers that are 1.25" in diameter (don't recall the Home Depot SKU on this).

The rail channels in the back of the R1S are 1.25" wide at the widest point and then narrow down to 0.75" in the narrow part of the channel.

I put the 1.25" washer on the bolt and slid it into the channel and then got it roughly in place. Then, held the bolt in place with my finger and then put the perforated square bracket on and then the locking washer and nut on the bolt. Repeat this for the other side as well.

At this point I only loosely tightened things so I could affix my Delta bike mount. This was simple with some 1/2" bolts that are about an inch and a half long. Very similar principle to the setup with the channels for the bracket. For this, I went ahead and tightened it well.

Next, I put my bike in the truck and got it on to the bike mount. At this point I was able to move the bracket back and forth in order to get the positioning right for my handlebars and closing the liftgate. Once I was happy, I tightened these down as well.

Thanks to the glass ceilings and the "bubble" that they form, I can put my bike in the truck without needing to remove the saddle (even though it is shown removed in the photo). This picture is with my old Trek 7000.
