Tools Needed:
-No special tools are required! You can use your hands to unscrew the two clips.
-If you have a flathead screwdriver or quarter, that may help.
1. Locate the Hitch Cover

The hitch cover is in the center of the rear bumper.
2. Locate the tabs

Look for the two (2) small tabs or slots underneath the hitch cover. Loosen the two tabs with a screwdriver, quarter, or your fingers.
3. Gently Pull Straight Down

Grip the bottom edge of the hitch cover on both sides and gently pull it down—alternate pulling on the right-hand side and then the left-hand side. You will need to give it some force and you might think you're breaking something but you're not. These tabs are very tight.
4. Remove the Cover

Once all tabs are released, the hitch cover should come off easily. Set it aside in a safe place.
5. Finished

That’s it! You’re all set to remove the hitch cover on your Rivian R1S. If you have any questions or run into issues, let me know.
The cover fits perfectly in the rear storage compartment. Great place to keep the cover when not in use.
