I drove to the airport and parked my R1S for 3 days. Charged it up to about 35% before parking. Would have gone to 50+, but I had an international flight and was worried about time.
On return, the charge had dropped to 17%. I drove to a RAN charger near the airport, but I probably didn't drive long enough to get the battery pre-conditioned (it was about 32 F out). was only getting about 85 kW. I have never used this RAN station, but I have never gotten less than 200 kW at that SOC at a RAN charger.
So I charged enough to get to a Tesla SC that was about 30 minutes away, hoping that would improve things. It did, but I screwed up and only charged to about 5 miles more than Waze was telling me I needed. I forgot that Waze takes me on backroads that I didn't want to drive (cold, snowy, late and I was tired after leaving the UK the day before at 3:30 AM). So I needed a few more miles than that.
Battery hit zero before the next closest charger (also a Tesla SC). Only drove about 5 miles after zero. Dropped my speed to 50, but it seemed to take for-EVAR. Got the turtle icon after a few miles, but noticed no reduction in power.
So glad I had my adapter! This was on 29 and not a lot of options. The SC was almost brand new and had long cables that did not require taking two spaces. Not that it was a big deal at 2 AM in the sticks.
