Vampire drain has been 1% per day for almost 3 days now. I've tried everything I know of but to no avail. It's surely possible to engineer a system that does not use a lot of energy while sitting idle.
Before anyone asks, yes, I've turned everything off under the sun (such as gear guard, phone connectivity while at home, or WiFi, or putting the key fob well out of range all the time). I have not turned on shipping mode. I feel like I shouldn't have to do that tho.
I have logged countless days of data on the drain. 1% per day. Reliably, all the time. 1% is about 1.25kWh, per day. That translates to a 52 W constant power drain, or a modestly bright incandescent light bulb (left on all day and night), for those of you who remember what those are. It's also comparable to the power draw of an idle iMac, again, left on all day and night.
That amount of idle power draw doesn't really sit well with me on first principles. Here's how much it costs you (and before you say "but I drive it sometimes", let me remind you that your R1 sits most of the time even if you have a long commute or such).
Let's say you charge at home at a price of $0.25 per kWh. Well those 365 days in a year of the R1 having its light bulb on all the time costs you
1.25 kWh x 365 days x 25 cents/kWh = 114 bucks a year. That's like spending $10 a month on your favorite charity, except that it's not going to a charity.
I think Rivian needs to fix this.
