I saw a Red Canyon R1S and an Escalade IQ on my way to work yesterday, and it got me thinking about which one’s better. I’ve got an R1S myself, and I’d pick it over the Escalade every time. They’re both electric SUVs, but my R1S just fits me better.
The R1S is quick—0-60 in 3 seconds with 835 horsepower—and it’s a beast off-road, handling water nearly 4 feet deep. The Escalade IQ’s got 750 horsepower and a crazy 460-mile range, plus a fancy interior with a huge screen and tons of speakers. But I don’t think I really need all that flash as my R1S keeps it simple, looks good, and still rides smooth whether I’m in town or on a trip.
I love the R1S because it’s tough, fun to drive, and doesn’t cost as much as the Escalade’s $130,000 price. The Escalade’s big and heavy, more for showing off than hitting trails. For me, the R1S is an all-round better SUV any day and anytime.
