On Saturday, my Rivian R1S required an "approve driving" before I could start the vehicle. I found it completely strange given my phone unlocks the car without issues, but driving wasn’t allowed until I scan a QR code to get a one-time PIN.
I wasn't sure why it happened or how to fix it. I used the app’s service chat, which ended up scheduling a service appointment for July 2nd, but that feels way too far off.
So a friend recommended closing the app completely and trying again. I did that, and the truck didn’t ask for approval afterward. I’m not certain this fully resolves the issue, though, so I’ll just observe it for this week. Since the same problem occurred with two different phones.
I’m hoping this doesn’t keep happening, but I’ll monitor it closely and see if the service appointment is needed.
