Last year, I first noticed this problem with my Rivian. At first, I thought it was a minor issue and booked a service appointment. I couldn’t get it checked until early this year. The service team couldn’t find or recreate the issue, even though I showed them a timestamped photo. The problem kept happening now and then.
2 weeks back, it occurred at night when someone else was driving. It startled them, causing a swerve, which worried me. I quickly scheduled another appointment, but was told mobile service isn’t available for three months.
The service team, through the app chat, asked if I had any video evidence and whether I was using a USB drive. I had inserted a SanDisk 512GB USB after the first incident. They suggested reformatting it to see if the problem stopped. I did, but a few days later, the issue happened again while turning onto an on-ramp. About 20 minutes later, it occurred again. I parked, properly removed the USB, but the problem persisted twice more.
It's been a bit frustrating for me cause I feel like I'm being ignored about what seems like a serious issue. I’ve restarted the vehicle multiple times, but it didn’t help. I asked another Rivian owner, who knows computers, if a USB could cause this, and he said no. So I'll just have to mange the situation till my service center appointment, hoping it would be resolved once and for all.
