Rivian broke down during demo ride

My friend who hasn't owned a Rivian before placed a reservation from March of 24 for the R2. So this past week, we both went out to demo drive the R1S to check it out and get our feet wet into Rivian. Not even 2 miles into the drive the vehicle's drama started. All power was lost, electrical warning message, pull over, while a loud grinding / breaking noise from the rear end went on.

We coasted to a parking lot and called the 800 number. Had to wait a good amount of time before someone answered and they had us reset the vehicle. Still no go. They contacted the local dealership to come pick us up.



I know the whole situation made him feel somehow because while he wants an electric vehicle, having the demo vehicle take a shit on us was probably the worst first impression you can get. Not being able to connect directly with the dealership wasn't also my favorite thing.
I hoped it'd be a one time thing cause a vehicle that’s being paid for having to be wrenched on all the time won't making any sense at all.

Also, we were able to book another test drive that has been scheduled to take place in 2 weeks time.
