While placing my order fblor the R1S last year, I asked myself, how will the car fit into my lifestyle? Will it be a daily driver? A family hauler? Something else?.
I was initially thinking of getting it as a third car, as we expect our family to grow in the next year. This will be our family car for when everyone needs to be in it.
We have a Tesla Model 3 that I use as a daily driver to get to work. With inflation and an apparent impending recession, I initially thought it’d be wiser to have two cars and save money by trading in the Model X for the R1S since they're both kind of similar. We can manage with the two cars for at least a year, maybe more. We've always loved the convenience of an electric car, but there aren’t many that can fit six.
Our son is growing, and I want him to be able to sit comfortably in the third row, so we were left with the Model X and R1S as viable options. Since we already had the Model X, I thought it wouldn't be bad to have a second option that offers the same features as the Model X, like the 3rd row seats. Also, the R1S looks more like a family vehicle when compared to the Model X.
The R1S is a bigger car and could feel like an overkill to go get Starbucks in this giant car, lol. I'm sure the more I drive it around town, I'll get used to it's size, and that might happen even sooner as I’ll be hauling kids to school/events or family weekend trips. My R1S journey is going to be an awesome one, and I can't wait!
