About a month ago, I noticed my Rivian R1S passenger-side mirror wouldn’t fold in when I locked the car or pressed the fold button. I tried a soft reset via the touchscreen, hoping it would recalibrate, but the mirror stayed stuck. While searching for a solution online, I saw other owners have had similar issues and some of them suggesting a hard reset fixed the issue for them.

So I tried a hard reset, powering the car fully off and on, worked for a day, but the problem kept returning, which was really frustrating. I got fed up and decided to call Rivian to set up service visit at their service center.

The tech figured out the mirror’s motor was faulty and swapped out the whole passenger-side mirror assembly in a few hours. They also double-checked the wiring to make sure everything else was fine. Now, the mirror folds perfectly whenever I lock or unlock the car, and I haven’t had any trouble since.
