I am shopping for a new insurance plan for my R1T. I would love to know how much others pay for insurance and which company do you guys use.
When I got my first R1T the cost of insuring it was $1100/year (Mapfre - see policy details below). In over 20 years of driving, I've rarely had an accident or had other issues that would drive up my premium. When I had my first R1T, someone ran into my (parked) R1T and destroyed it.
Mapfre eventually paid for a similar age/miles R1T and said they would recover the money from the guy who hit me (insured by Allstate). I was told that my premium would not go up because the accident wasn't my fault. Then a week later after my new one arrived, I was sent a premium adjustment to bring my insurance up to $2400/year, more than double. The difference in the cost between my old and new R1T (with same specs) was only $5000. Maybe I'm being punished for an accident that wasn't my fault and I'm not inclined to keep this policy. Curious what eveyone else is paying and what the best company is.
