So I found a way to protect the 5 inches of carpet that goes around the back of the R1S that, as far as I know, is not protected by any of the existing cargo liners. I ordered some of the stick-on rubber baseboard material that they use in commercial buildings for about $20 on it Amazon and stuck it right on. I have a couple hairy dogs who lie down back there and their fur was all over that section.

I cut the third row into 3 pieces per side to get it to cover as much as possible and still have the seats go up and down without the liner lifting up over the little seat flap. Same on tailgate -- 2 pieces. it turned out looking and working well but it was a lot of time, head scratching and like 4 boxes of HD velcro.
The carpet I use is the Liner X that has been cut up to fit all the moving parts of the seat backs and tailgate with industrial velcro. I spent like 3 hours installing that to get it to work right. I don't think there's a simple clean solution. Too much stuff moving around. What I would love to see tho, is something directly from the factory where all those carpeted pieces could be vinyl as like a "pet owner" option. Like you get some folding dog bowls that click in when the seat backs are all down for the dogs in the back.
For anyone wondering, this is a picture of how I cut the Liner X to fit in my tailgate. Looks perfect.
