Thought I'd share an article on a camping trip I went on with a friend 2 weeks ago. So we rented a small trailer on Outdoorsy, picked it up in Centennial, for 4 days / 3 nights. The trailer was about 3000 lbs and the truck was packed full - four of us plus a dog and all of our gear.

Our original plan was to charge on the way up at a Rivian Waypoint and not charge on the way back. There's no pull-thru at this Waypoint, but we found a way to park without blocking any other parking spots and the charger connected just fine.

We settled in for a leisurely lunch and started a game of cribbage. Just then, an intense thunderstorm rolled through the area and it rained so hard we could barely hear the stereo. We were probably sitting there for about 20 minutes after the storm passed when we realized the charger was offline. Someone walked out of a nearby office building and shared that the power was out in the entire building, so it wasn't just the charger.

When the power didn't come back on in the next 10 minutes, we decided to move and eventually found another L2 charger. It's a Tesla Destination charger and luckily we had the adapter. It worked fine, but at that point we had lost too much time and needed to get to the campsite. I forgot to take a picture at the campsite or else I'd have shared those as well.

While at the campsite, the truck lost about 2% per 24 hours. We didn't realize it was happening until the second day and then it took us a bit of fiddling to figure out how to turn everything off. But we were in and out of the truck (cabin, frunk, gear tunnel) at least a dozen times a day so I guess that was a factor.

Between the shorter-than-anticipated charging session on the way up and the higher-than-anticipated drain at the campsite, we ended up having to charge on the way down. The navigation took us to an EVgo station with fast chargers. Thankfully, the parking lot was empty and we had no problem taking up a few parking spots with the trailer.
