So there I was cleaning the Rivian after a long week of mud and dirt and a 1Y/o boy destroying my backseat, per usual. I figured why not watch some football while cleaning a bit? So I was streaming from my phone using the google cast feature (which I LOVE).

While vacuuming I shut the driver's door with my phone on the charger sitting in the center console. And suddenly my door handles fold in. I tap the door a few times to see if maybe my phone is just being weird, no result.

I try to wake my phone by calling it from my smartwatch and still, nothing happened. I tried to open the gear tunnel which oddly worked? But it did not unless the doors. Then about 1 minute later my mirrors fold in and I think "well now I'm screwed.."

LUCKILY, I was wearing my watch and was able to call my friend and ask him politely to grab my keys for me from my house and come meet me at the car wash (a 10 minute task all together).

He laughs and says "I'll be right there."

As my friend pulls up with a smile on his face, surely he is thinking about how much I repeatedly tell him how much I love this truck. He hands me my keys and the doors unlocked in a flash of relief. At the end of the day what did I learn? Never leave home with only one form of "key"!

My fault really for leaving my phone in the truck while cleaning thinking I could get a little battery back while cleaning. But beware of the single point of failure!

Hopefully this helps someone 🙏🏻 Adventure forever!
