A friend had a recent bug pop up that made his outer door handles (both front driver and front passenger) stop responding to his key card (and wristband). Both key card and wristband work on the interior of the door to allow the vehicle to be put in drive mode.
So the key card has been working well within the last few months to unlock the vehicle by holding it up to the door handle, but at some point within the last few weeks (since he last successfully used the key card to unlock the vehicle) the handles (both sides) have stopped recognizing the key card. Before I found out about the issue, he had already tried a few troubleshooting steps:
1. He had verified that the air compressor is still functioning. (Cause he read that the compressor and door handles were on the same power circuit and this could be the problem in some instances).
2. He also completed a all three resets (that he's aware of) - sleep, infotainment and full, to no avail.
He felt it may be a software related bug not until he reached out to me. So the solution I gave to him was to have the handle and internal readers of his truck replaced. With this fix, he's sure to not encounter such issues again.
