My R1S has over 7000 miles on it, with the OEM 20” A/T tires. I recently noticed that both front tires are exhibiting the tread blocks chunking off (although I've already made plans to have them replaced before now). My R1S has not been used in any sort of hard core off reading, only some dirt and gravel roads and parking areas, and the rear tires are not exhibiting this type of tire wear at all.
And while I do use conserve mode on long drives on the highway, and know that may speed up wear, this looks more like damage that just faster wear. Anyone know if this is caused by bad alignment, or just happens, or perhaps the tires themselves are faulty?
Hopefully someone who has dealt with this directly will chime in. I just noticed this, and if it is alignment related, I'm thinking maybe it might be when I changed the tires some months back. Wondering if it is worth submitting a service request over it - and if Rivian would cover alignment cost from a local shop, given service centers are 3 hours from me, and assuming this cannot be handled by a mobile visit. Anyways, I've sent over an email to Rivian and I'm hoping I'll get a feedback soon enough.
