I’ve been kind of curious, has anyone else run into issues with Electrify America chargers? I pulled up to a station with eight chargers, and other EVs were charging just fine, but my Rivian wouldn’t work at any of them. I spent over an hour trying different chargers, restarting things, and even talking to their support team on the phone—nothing helped. My Rivian kept glitching every time I tried to start a charge.
I called Rivian’s support, and they gave me a vague answer about how their software doesn’t always play nice with third-party chargers. They said I’d need to test it on a Level 2 charger to confirm the issue was on their end before they could help. With my battery almost dead, I barely made it 36 miles to a town with a Tesla Supercharger, which—thankfully—worked perfectly with my adapter. Without that, I would’ve been stranded.

This got me wondering: is Rivian’s software somehow blocking certain chargers? Or was this just a weird one-off glitch? I watched seven other EVs charge without a hitch, so it’s hard to say. Either way, I plan on sticking to trips where I know I can access Level 2 chargers overnight. What should’ve been a two-hour drive home turned into a 4.5-hour ordeal.
Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a rant as I'm still a big Rivian fan girl any day and anytime. Just curious if anyone else has been through something like this?
