It’s rare that I ever run in to a person ICEing a charger while they’re at their vehicle. The few times I have, I’ve very politely mentioned that these are for electric vehicles to charge, don’t demand they move (and only even ask if all other stalls are full.)

On Friday, at a RAN, a Sprinter camper van (NOT EV) was parked in the trailer stall. The trailer stall was at the end of a row of “RVs and vehicles with trailers” extra long parking stalls. Only the end one is RAN, the other RAN are in normal length stalls around a corner.

As I plugged in, a man and small kid approached the Sprinter. Figuring they were leaving. I didn’t bother even mentioning. A couple minutes later, they got out and started to walk away. So I politely said something. He immediately went “all the other RV spots were full when I arrived:” And he started walking back to his van “I see they’re open now,”

“I get it, lots of people use the RV spots when they’re not supposed to. I’m just letting you know for next time,” and I started to walk away. He then continued to rant about the parking lot having been full when he arrived, and how I’m using an RV spot. (I wasn’t. I was in one of the short RAN.)

So I calmly explained that they were charging stalls, and the one he was in was for vehicles towing. He started ranting more; so I decided to disengage.

Walked away, security office was about 30’ away. Knocked. Guy started yelling something I ignored. Security went and had a 10+ minute chat with him and he left. I waited until Sprinter was gone to head back, thanked the security guy, who replied “yeah, I don’t know what that guy’s problem was.”
