A long time ago, before I purchased my R1S, RAN I knew charging was free. When Rivian eventually started charging, the cost per kWh was around $0.40 and was a no brainer to use.
Not too long ago, Rivian started opening up the network. At the same time they started increasing charging costs significantly, so much so, that it is not a default choice anymore. My nearest RAN is now at $0.65
I don't know if this would be the new norm to see prices being increased regularly but I hope that it's something that won't turn out to be a big burden for Rivian owners. It's okay for a little price increase but I feel prices should at least stay constant for a while before there's a change. Even when the change happens, the difference shouldn't be too significant.

How much is your nearest RAN?
