Been in my new G2 R1S for almost 2 weeks, and everything’s great. I really love it to death. BUT... there’s 2 things about my Tesla that I really wish Rivian would add.
1. The first is an audible ‘ding’ when a stoplight turns from red to green. Not a huge thing, but it was nice to get prompted in case you were briefly looking elsewhere while stopped at a light. Not sure how easy this would be to implement since the driver assist doesn’t really deal with signals.
2. Secondly, however, is a much bigger deal, and that is the car’s ability to shut off the turning signal when it recognizes that you are now in the lane after a lane change. I find the Rivian’s turn signals to be pernickety and often find myself having driven half a mile with my turn signal still engaged because the ‘half’ click on the turn stalk registered as a full click and I didn’t realize it. The Teslas are really great about recognizing when you’ve finished your lane change and turning off the signal.
These aren't big deals or any sort of deal breakers for me; I just thought they'd be really cool features to have. Maybe features that could come with an update in the future—who knows? I've enjoyed driving the R1S so far, and even if they decide not to add these, I'd still love driving it no less.
