Earlier this week, I installed the 2024.39 software update on my R1S. Overall I'm pleased with the update and do not have any outstanding issues. However, I noticed that I could no longer unplug the charging port from the vehicle when the charge has completed unless the car is unlocked.

At first I figured this was a weird bug or glitch with my vehicle and maybe it would be resolved in the next update. I decided to investigate this further by checking the latest owner's manual (20241014). I had an older manual (20240722) saved on my PC and the section "Stop a Charge Session" under "Charging" confirms that this change was indeed intentional and is not a bug. I've attached 2 screenshots showing the verbiage change. It looks like now the charge port will only be unlocked when the car itself is unlocked; previously the charge port would unlock after the a charge session has completed regardless of whether or not the car is unlocked.

In certain situations (e.g. charging at home) I prefer the old behavior where the charge port would unlock after charging is completed since it's convenient for me in the morning not to have to unlock the car. In other scenarios (e.g. charging in public) I much prefer the new behavior. Ideally, this behavior be user customizable in the vehicle's settings. For me, I'd benefit from an additional setting like "unlock after charging only when at home." The car already knows about my home location, so I would think an option like this would be easily doable. I guess if I could only choose between the old behavior and the new, I'd take the new behavior for the added security and peace of mind.

What do you guys think about this change?
