PSA on R1S Gen2 Failure When Reboot Won't Work and Door Handles Half Open

Hello everyone, A software was created by a Rivian owner that has access to Rivian diagnostics and can assist with crash data erasure, software issues, and repairs. If your Rivian has deployed airbags or locked seatbelts, you’ll need the software to clear crash data. I have his number with me for anyone who might need assistance in getting the software. TLDR if you R1S won't work or reset and door handle is stuck in a halfway position, get out and yank the handle hard until it's fully open.

I figured this out last weekend when I parked the R1S in a loading zone to unload a bunch of boxes, abs was thus running back and forth opening and closing the trunk and the truck automatically locking and unlocking. When I returned the final time the drivers side handles were only halfway out and the door wouldn't open. So I climbed in through the passenger side to the driver's seat, buckled and tried to shift to drive: no response. Screen not responding to anything either, just on and sitting.

Door button wouldn't work so I used the manual lever to open it and slam closed: no change. Infotainment reboot: no change. Full reboot: no change (would not even reboot). Full reboot 10 more tries with 60s holds: no change. After trying everything I could and to no avail, I reached out to Rivian on phone, so I could order a tow truck.

After the call, I got out and yanked on the driver's door handle as hard as I could- POOF! door opens, and everything went back to normal. Just want to share this experience in case others run into it you can jump to the solution.
