I wrote a previous thread on the proactive replacement of Rivian's 12V batteries and this is another thread on whether it’s worth replacing them before they start causing issues. I've owned my R1S for a long time with over 33,000 miles. I’d really like to avoid being stranded somewhere waiting for a tow, so I'm seriously considering to schedule a service to swap them out. What’s the take from other folks here—do you wait for a warning to show up, or get ahead of it?
I’ve heard from a few owners that the battery warning can sneak up on you at anytime so it's best to stay prepared. My R1S has been super reliable so far, and I’d rather keep it that way than roll the dice waiting for a signal to act. If I can get it done even tho it won't be under warranty, it feels like a smart move for peace of mind. Has anyone else on the forum tackled this yet? I’m curious if there’s a good rule of thumb for timing or if most people just keep driving until the car says otherwise. For now, I’m just keeping tabs on it and loving every mile.
