I decided to craft a custom holder for my iPad mini, and it was a fun little project using my laser cutter. I picked some wood that I painted to sort of blend with the vibe inside my R1T. The whole setup is super straightforward: you just slide the board into a slot, wrap the iPad’s magnetic cover around it, and then pop the iPad onto the cover.

I’m honestly thrilled with how simple it was to put together. The wood, with its fresh coat of paint, has this warm, homemade charm that just feels right to me. When I flip the iPad mini to landscape, it slots in like it was meant to be there, solid and comfy. I’ve been using it around the house, and it’s awesome for kicking back with a show or flipping through websites.

That said, I wouldn’t trust it for anything too wild, like bouncing around on an off-road trail given it’s sturdy, but not that sturdy. Still, it’s perfect for keeping my iPad handy in the car or at my desk, and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
