For Gen 1 owners like myself, it's sad to say this but it seems like Rivian has shifted focus away from upgrading our Driver+ system with any major improvements. But I’ve been able to find a practical way to make highway driving more relaxing and enjoyable.
Here’s a straightforward trick to level up your drive:
• Get a Weighted Object: Pick up something like a small, weighted accessory (I recommend checking out options on sites like Amazon—search for steering wheel weights or similar items). After some trial and error, I found a 2-pound weight works perfectly.
• Position It Carefully: Place the weight on either the lower-left or lower-right section of your steering wheel.
• Experience Smoother Driving: With the weight in place, you can enjoy a more hands-free driving experience without the system constantly nagging you to grip the wheel every few seconds.
This setup has been a game-changer for me, but I only use it in specific scenarios:
• Low-traffic, open highways
• Slow-moving, bumper-to-bumper traffic
Important Note: This method is not suitable for:
• High-speed or crowded roads
• Tight or winding highway stretches
I know this suggestion might spark some debate, and I get it—it’s not for everyone. But for long road trips, this simple tweak unlocks the potential of the car’s existing features, making drives more comfortable. Drive safe and let me know your thoughts!
