So, I’ve been noticing something with my Rivian R1S when it’s parked in a sun-soaked parking lot, like when it’s baking at around 130 degrees inside the cabin. I’ll crank the AC for over an hour, switching between fan speeds while driving around town at 5 p.m., and the best it can manage is cooling down to about 82 degrees. It’s not a huge deal, just something I’ve picked up on. I even tried flipping it to pet mode to check the temp when I parked, and it’s still hovering around there. The windows are not tinted, but I was thinking it could handle the heat better, but it seems like once the cabin gets that hot, it really struggles to cool off completely.
When I start the R1S in the garage or somewhere shaded, it does a much better job keeping things comfortable. It’s like the AC can keep up when it’s not fighting an already scorching interior. I’m thinking the intense heat just overwhelms it when the car’s been sitting out for a while, and it needs that shade to catch a break. It’s not a dealbreaker or anything—just something I’ve noticed that makes me wish I could always snag a shady spot. Has anyone else run into this with their R1S? Curious if it’s just my ride or a quirk with the cooling system in super hot conditions.
